Al Pacino Honored at Public Theater Gala

NEW YORK – On Monday night, the Public Theater celebrated the 50th birthday of its Central Park venue, the Delacorte Theater. Home to one of Manhattan’s most beloved summer institutions, the Shakespeare in the Park series, the Delacorte was the site of a gala benefit honoring Al Pacino, including a reading of Romeo and Juliet with Kevin Kline and Meryl Streep in the title roles.

Al Pacino said he keeps Shakespeare “all over the place” in his home.
Pacino was honoree, Nichols one of 1,100 guests who gathered in Central Park last night for a gala supper.
